Contrada di Sorano Barolo 2019
Paolo and Cristina, up until now, have sold very little of their wine. They began their project in 2014 and were promptly greeted with a zero vintage, a catastrophic start that featured cold and rain, and they sold their entire crop without processing or bottling a single drip. The following year was better and they began making their first tiny bottlings--200 of this, 400 of that. The minuscule quantities are hard to fathom. Especially because this was their new livelihood.
But over the last few vintages, all the pieces came together and their whopping 2 hectares of vines yielded a delicious range of wines that will have every eyebrow at your table raised with pleasure. Theirs are without question the Langhe wines every wine importer is constantly on the lookout for.
Their Barolo, from a small plot of just about 1 acre gives us a thoroughly wonderful, farmhouse production wine. I would suggest to age this one for up to a decade (if you have the patience) but encourage you to enjoy one while it's still youthful and exuberant too!
