MUSCADET PRE-ARRIVAL OFFER

THE MOST UNDER-RATED WHITE WINES IN FRANCE?

Bonjour Cru!

Over the last 3 days we have been treated to a Muscadet master class by our friend Jean-Pierre Guedon. I loved his wines already, but now, along with 20 other food and wine loving converts, I am truly hooked. His enthusiasm for what he's doing is infectious, and his wines are equally memorable. Regrettably, after a horrendous frost in 2016, and now a new, possibly worse, one over the last few days this week, there just won't be much Muscadet to go around in the coming years.

It's a shame, and a business nightmare, but, what little is available, is truly GREAT.

First, we met at Jean-Pierre's winery, Domaine Les Hautes Noelles for a tasting in his spotless chai. There he showed us his underground tanks, very common in the area, where he makes his long-living Muscadet Moineries. If you've never tasted 6-year old Muscadet, you're missing a real treat, especially at just $18.

Later, we enjoyed a lunch in nearby Pornic with oysters and sole and slurped down the beautiful Muscadet Les Parcelles, Jean-Pierres 'welcome mat' wine. It smelled of white flowers, apricots, and lemon balm. Nice and bone dry too. This was a really astonishing bottle for what amounts to $14.

The next day, following a nice dinner at the 1-star L'Atlantide in Nantes, Jean-Pierre surprised us with a visit to his friends Emmanuel and Baptiste, oyster-farmers in the nearby Vendée. These dudes literally pulled oysters from the water, shucked them sur place, and we slurped them down with the quivering Muscadet Les Granges. Wow. Only $16.

Here is my bold (and opinionated) impression: There are no better Muscadet available today than those of Jean-Pierre's at Hautes Noelles. Period. The fact that he has now converted fully to organic viticulture adds value and life to his wines and puts the icing on the proverbial cake.

I've ordered what I can from his now rapidly dwindling supply--a mixed palette of the above, and want to offer you a Muscadet 6-pack, consisiting of 2 bottles of each, for just:

$75 on the 6-pack

or better, $144 for a solid mixed case of 3 wines, 4 bottles each

The reality is that we might not be able to order much wine at all in the coming two years. For lovers of fresh oysters, shrimp, white fish, goat cheese, and other simple delights that demand a crisp and refreshing white wine, this is a bummer. But, we shall persist, hopefully with a cellar full of remarkable Muscadet. (For, ahem, just $12 a bottle)

To order, please simply reply to this email with your request--"Sixer" or "Solid Case", or click the link or photos above to read more about Jean-Pierre and order online. I expect these wines around June 15th, just in time to quench your thirst for summer!

Talk to you again in a few days...

Cheers!

Dan
