Bon dia!
 I've been overdue to offer something like this. It was stimulated by another Road Cru member that was asking for a little "mix up" to make a gift pack for someone. One thing led to another and it got me thinking that a Sixer of Catalan red wines should be in the offing. And now, here we are.
On a quick jaunt in and out of Barcelona last week I (re)tasted all these wines and came away understanding 4 things.
- I feel quite lucky to work with all these small wineries,
- All the wines are happy making and Catalan people are awesome,
- Catalonia might be making some of the most interesting wines in the world and there is no better quality/value ratio perhaps anywhere,
- and I really like good ham.
If you're following the news, this is a big week in Catalonia. An independence referendum is on the voting docket and of course the rest of Spain isn't too excited about this. But the Catalan people sure are, and everywhere I went the conversation was dominated by this topic. The energy is palpable and its good to see a political movement at work with concerned citizens and active participants.
So, let's call this 6-pack a celebration of sorts too. Maybe by the time you receive it in December Catalonia will be on its way to independence....

I'll put a couple of these sixers in our house for sure. In general you should look for wines that taste like they were grown in a sunny climate--darker fruited, ample; but also made with some refinement and clarity. You've got an older wine, and some younger wines. I wouldn't hesitate to open a single one right away upon arrival.
